Do the machines need to be connected?
Not to start. Work reports and orders are enough to calculate real cost. Machine connectivity opens up predictive maintenance, but that is a later phase.
What if we work in very short runs?
That is exactly where it shows most, because the cost of each order varies a lot and estimating by eye gets expensive.
Does the workshop have to change how it works?
As little as possible. The goal is to capture what is already written down, not to add new paperwork.
